The magician cocked his head, his eyes twinkling. “You promised me a heart,” he said to the magician. This was always how the king acted-swiftly and ruthlessly-and since the magician had not found him a new heart, they expected nothing else.īut the king looked weary and sad. Well, all the courtiers and counselors cowered, for they expected the magician and his daughter to be dragged away at once and executed.
